Greg Chappell, the Indian coach,
criticized Tendulkar's attitude during the team's World Cup preparations in
2007. Tendulkar believed he would be better off opening the innings, as he had
done for the majority of his career, but Chappell believed Tendulkar would be
more valuable down the order. [157] Tendulkar's continued failures, in
Chappell's opinion, were detrimental to the team's chances. Tendulkar, in a
rare display of emotion, reacted angrily to the remarks ascribed to Chappell by
stating that no coach had ever said that his attitude toward cricket was
insufficient. The Board of Control for Cricket in India sent Tendulkar a notice
on April 7 seeking
